Task description
This assessment task enables you to deeply engage with the literature around one specialist anaesthetic policy guideline or procedure and its relationship to professional standards (ANZCA and ACORN) for care of an anaesthetised patient and local hospital policy.
Select a patient for case study who has significance to an anaesthetic policy or procedure in your practice environment; you may discuss your choice with the lecturer prior to commencing writing.
Write a brief summary of the patients current health problem and the significance of the case to the selected anaesthetic policy or procedure. At all times you must maintain patient confidentiality by assigning the person a pseudonym and abide by your organisations ethics policy on using patient information.
To facilitate demonstration of the depth of your theoretical understanding related to specific anaesthetic policies guidelines or procedures you should describe and justify how this has impacted upon your selected case critically analysing the issue using evidence based findings.
Your introduction should describe how the paper is to be presented and organized. The content of the paper must use a minimum of 15 scholarly references to support your discussion points. The paper will be written in a manner that clearly demonstrates understanding of the related anaesthetic management of the patient and there must be clear reference to the anaesthetic policy or procedure. You should justify and critique the policy or procedure by drawing on recent evidence- based literature and propose recommendations for future practice if indicated.
