PAPER INSTRUCTIONS AND RUBRIC (20 points)
Formatting – 5 points
After the interview, write a
brief report (typed, 12-point font, doubled-spaced), using university-level
writing and grammar. Do NOT use a cover page. On the first page include your
name, Psyc 215, the date, and give your paper an interesting title (such as
Parent Interview ); set up the paper as follows:
Section One – 5 points
INTRODUCTION
Set up this section by using
a level 1 APA heading.
In this part of your paper
describe who you interviewed
(e.g., my father, my neighbor, my aunt), what
age the person is, how many
children he or she has and the ages of the children, where the interview took place and describe the setting
(e.g., the two of us alone in the kitchen, the two of us in the living room
with 2 of the kids in the next room). Be
clear and specific in your descriptions.
Section two – 5 points
SUMMARY
POINTS
Set up this
section by using a level 1 APA heading. Then, use level 2 headings to start
each of the 4 questions of special interest to you.
After completing the
interview choose 4 answers
that were given by the parent that are of special interest to you. Then relate
those points to what we discussed in class, what you saw in any videos, or what
you read in your textbook. Clearly state how the parent’s answer and this other
information relate to each other (i.e., how are they the same or different). Be
specific, clear, and thoughtful.
Section three – 5 points
INTERVIEW QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Copy and
paste the interview questions here as the last section of your paper. Type in your parent interviewee answers
under each question. Ask parent to completely answers each prompt. A simple yes
or no is often not enough for understanding. Ask your interviewee to expand on
their answers or provide an example when necessary. As you transcribe your
interview notes, stay true to their response but also make sure that your
transcriptions are written well.
Submitting this assignment for credit:
When you have your paper
written and your interview typed on a
Word.doc, submit it through Turnitin
by the due date. The Turnitin similarity rating will be very high. This is
okay as long as the answers to each question are not similar to any other
paper. See late policy.
How to be prepared for the class discussion:
Be prepared by preparing notes (or bring a copy of the
interview) to share with the class during the class discussion. The notes are
for you and are not submitted for credit.
